Osman Kavala wrote to Hrant Dink on the 11th anniversary of his death. The text is published in Agos on 19 January 2018. Below is the translation of the original text:
You are my second close friend who was killed after Onat Kutlar.
The bullet that detached you from the life you were living with courage and affection, also left us with a terrifying example of fatal evil.
In order to cope with this pain, we tried to keep our lives related to yours and to keep getting something from you. What we have received turned our pain into the building blocks of our conscience.
We thank you for these and for the power to resist they provide us.
